Mr. McPherson is the head band director at Deming High School in Deming, New Mexico. He has also served as the assistant band director at Volcano Vista High School in Albuquerque where he conducted the concert band and served as the elementary band director at Colinas Elementary in Rio Rancho.
Originally from Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Mr. McPherson graduated High School from V. Sue Cleveland High School where he was both a student and a student teacher with the under the head band director, Daniel Holmes. Upon his Graduation, Mr. McPherson enrolled at New Mexico State University where he received a Bachelors degree in music education with an emphasis in K-12 instrumental education.. During his time there, he taught private clarinet lessons and was a marching clarinet technician at Organ Mountain High school, Mayfield High School, and Centennial High School. Mr. McPherson spent countless hours practicing and performing music in college and traveled internationally with the NMSU wind ensemble in Prague, CZ. In his free time, Mr. McPherson learned to compose and arrange music where his works were premiered at NMSU in a student composer concert. and played at NMSU men's basketball games. All of the music the DHS marching band plays in the stands at sporting events are original music or arrangements by Mr. McPherson.
When not teaching band, Mr. McPherson loves to hike, write music, read, watch the Dallas Cowboys , and spend time with his girlfriend Ms. Jamie Lee Justice, J.D. and family.
